Well it’s the time of the year where daylight is at its minimum and the birth of baby Jesus is celebrated.
For non-muslims as an aside … the story of Christmas in the Quran is mostly centered around … Maria (Maryam chapter 19 Quran) … the story tells about Maria being visited by an angel who asked her to leave her family and go far away because you’ll conceive a child who will be a prophet. To the non-muslim people … for Muslims Jesus is one of the prophets. Well look the whole story up
Why commercial Christmas annihilated traditional Christian Christmas celebrations?
In the shared video Larry Schweikart lays out how Christmas was celebrated over a hundred years ago and talks about Irving Berlin’s Christmas song “White Christmas” sung by Bing Crosby in a movie called “Holiday Inn.”
Schweikart talks about the indoor tradition to put (Lionel)model trains under the tree. That was related of course to the uprise of huge department stores where offered goods were neatly displayed in the store window.
These department stores rose because of the major ownership of a car. Cars were the precursor of department stores. Schweikart goes on about usually housewives going to department stores and asking very often male clerks for help to find what they were looking for.
The inventor of the store window was Frank Baum who also wrote the Wizard of Oz.
